How to plan an enduring classroom bulletin board

Leave open space for student work

Reserve the center portion of your board for student drawings, writing drafts, and group projects. You can mount wooden clothespins across the middle with painter tape to hold fresh worksheets without punching new holes in your background sheet. This setup gives children clear ownership of the wall space.

Hang blank colored card stock mats in the center as permanent place markers for each desk in the room. When new assignments finish, children clip their own papers onto their assigned mats, keeping the layout orderly without extra measuring.

Remove displays without tearing the paper

Use a flat staple lifter rather than your fingernails when it is time to clear the board. Slide the metal tip gently beneath each staple crown, rock the tool back, and pull straight out so the heavy paper background stays smooth and whole.
